O Single de "People Are People" é lançado
em 12/03/1984.
A tour começou em St Austell em 27/09/1984 e finalizou
em Warsaw em 30/07/1985, sendo aproximadamente 81 shows.
As bandas de
abertura dessa tour foram : Portion Control, Matt Fretton, Book Of Love, Henry
Lee Summer, Animotion, Missing Link, The Way Moves, Satobbi, The Blah Brothers.
O show de
01/11/1984 London, Hammersmith Odeon foi gravado para a BBC Radio FM In
Concert.
Em 02/06/1984 em Ludwigshafen, Suedwest Stadium,
participaram de um festival onde abriram para o Elton John.
Nos Estados Unidos em 02/07/1984, é lançada a
coletânea "People Are People", para divulgar a banda que já estava
com uma tour americana para março de 1985.
O single de "Master And Servant" é lançado
em 20/08/1984.
"Some Great Reward" é lançado em
24/09/1984.
Em 29/10/1984 é lançado o "double A Side"
com as faixas : "Blasphemous Rumours" / "Somebody".
O show de 09/12/1984 em Hamburg, no Alsterdorfer
Sporthalle foi gravado oficialmente e lançado somente em VHS (até o momento),
com o nome de The World We Live In And Live In Hamburg em 1985. O vhs europeu
contém 5 músicas a mais do que o vhs americano.
11/12/1984 - Sporthalle, Boblingen, Germany. Uma
bomba de gás lacrimogêneo foi lançada durante See You e o show foi
interrompido. Andy Fletcher declarou em
2016: "Gás CS foi pulverizado uma vez na Alemanha. Estávamos tocando um
bis e de repente percebemos que não havia ninguém no palco e havia um grande
caos. Foi realmente assustador, porque não só o pânico explodiu, mas muitas
pessoas acabaram no hospital.
17/12/1984 Paris, France, Palais Omnisports Bercy,
seu primeiro show com 15.000 pessoas na Europa. Originalmente programado para ser no Le Zenith, um lugar com menor capacidade de público (7.000 lugares).
Entre algum momento de 1984 e o hiato até março de
1985, com a volta da perna americana, segundo o livro "Rock in Rio a
História do Maior Festival de Música do Mundo", Roberto Medina tentou
vários contatos com artistas e bandas,
ainda em 1984, para se apresentarem em janeiro de 1985.
E o Depeche Mode, foi citado entre outras como U2,
Smiths, Phil Collins.
Justamente nesse período, o Depeche Mode estava
parado com a tour, então faz sentido, se realmente deram uma negativa de virem
prá cá nessa época.
Se o DM tivesse aceitado vir em 1985 ? O público do
DM seria outro, muito maior, além de se tornarem mais conhecidos por aqui.
Em 30/03/1985 Los Angeles, Palladium, a banda vendeu
5.000 tickets em uma hora.
No dia seguinte, em Laguna Hills, conseguiram
"sold out" , venderam mais 15.000 ingressos.
O single de "Shake The Disease" é lançado
em 29/04/1985.
07/07/1985 - Werchter, Belgium, Rock Wercher
Festival, Depeche Mode tocou pela primeira vez para mais de 70.000 pessoas.
23/07/1985 - Budapest, Driving Track. Era aniversário
do Martin. Os fãs húngaros cantaram parabéns para ele que ficou muito
emocionado na época.
26/07/1985 - Athens, Greece, Panathinaiko Stadium.
Um festival de bandas alternativas tocando para mais de 80.000 pessoas: Depeche
Mode, Culture Club, The Cure, The Stranglers, Talk Talk and The Clash.
